what moves you?

Growing up, I was not the ideal student. I used to get in trouble and run away, I was even suspended. Then, through volunteer work, I found a new direction and discovered that it’s fun and empowering to help people.

I have learned that you have to become a leader and have stability within yourself before you can go out and help others. For me, it was the realization that I can pass exams and get good grades, the fact that my voice is worth listening to, that made a difference.

Being around a group of people who are motivated for change, you also want to contribute. I intend to go back to Zimbabwe to fight poverty. Wherever I see despair, I ask myself, where is the need, what can I do to help? For example, I have been jotting down ideas for how I could change the transport system in my country and reduce corruption by duplicating the bus system here.

From being a student with a dream, through the Global Student Leadership program, I am learning how to make my dream a reality.
