In many ways, we as NGOs have become the institutional memory of the United Nations, especially as UN staff retire.
I have a photographic memory so, as a representative of NGOs, I take great joy in reading statements by member states and being able to hold them to their word.
What first brought me to the UN was the 7 train, because when I was a boy I had to draw a poster about a diplomat and I drew the UN building. I got an A+ for my poster and the UN has been in my psyche ever since.
The UN is about unity and diversity, and this conference was a perfect example of that. My dream for the future is to continue the work that Im doing, but in different ways, perhaps more effectively and with more partners.
