Human Rights Wall
2008
Days before human rights defenders and experts came to UNESCO, a one-day Human Rights Village was held in front of Paris' City Hall to create an open space for public engagement on human rights, with NGO tents, a wall of expression, music, outdoor discussions, a poetry slam and other features.

The Human Rights Wall, supervised by renowned Spanish artist Valentin Caro, was visited by hundreds of passersby throughout the day, and was subsequently installed at UNESCO during the Conference, bringing the public's perspectives to the UN.

The Human Rights Village was made possible by the collaboration of the Office of the Mayor of Paris, the NGO/DPI Executive Committee, the Paris-based outreach team, and other generous sponsors, friends and supporters.
